My first time trying a Moroccan Bath at Ashwina Spa!
September 3, 2017
I have been just so bad with updating my blog I am almost embarrassed typing this :( Anyway if you follow this plus size blogger on IG (NiggiPhulwani) a.k.a. me, you would have seen that I recently went for a Moroccan Bath at Ashwina Spa. Now if you do not know, Ashwina is a salon and spa (next door to each other) based in Al Mankhool. I visit them a lot for my hair and have tried their Dermalogica facial at the spa too - but this was my first time ever trying the Moroccan bath. I am going to list down my thoughts through the process below
So firstly, I quite like the space Ashwina has made in her spa. She literally treats a girl with the perfect vanity we all want! How gorgeous is the place below? and all the essentials that you need post shower i.e. a blow dryer, water, body lotion etc are already placed there!
Next, I am going to be honest. Being 25 and having some one else bathe you is WEIRD! Sorry there are no two ways about this - I was AWKWARDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD lol. So you go into the space below (which by the way is well made and clean). The therapist asks you to take a seat and they use some sort of black soap that apparently really helps in getting all the dead skin out. Oh and the room has steam so its really foggy and sweaty in there.
So anyway, I am in the room with steam and she is applying the soap all over my body. Once she is done applying the soap, you are left in the room filled with steam for around 15 minutes. The soap and the steam together opens up your pores and really helps in a hardcore cleaning of the body. I will be super honest - I was very uncomfortable in this moment. Soap had gone in my eyes (my fault lol), the steam gave me a running nose and I just wasn't enjoying in this moment. But I told myself to stop being dramatic and let the process get over to make my judgement.
After 15 minutes, the therapist came back in and with a loofah she started scrubbing my body. Oh and then when I saw all the dirt and dead skin that came out of my body, I was like this was totally WORTH IT! I shower everyday and still the dirt was terrible! FYI they use a different loofah for everyone so it is super hygienic
Now once the whole scrubbing was done and she washed my body, I kid you not - my skin never felt softer! You have to experience it to truly know. I felt like the whole world should touch my hands and see how soft they felt! The softness remained for a day or two after! But I know how clean I was. I think getting a Moroccan bath once a month should be a good idea and more so after a travel; specially to a place like India - where there is so much dust and pollution!
