Its been such a long time since my last blog post, I almost feel ashamed! But any hoo... So a lot of times when I have shared any makeup looks on my IG, I have got several questions about makeup brushes and which ones I use. Now personally, I have around 300+ makeup brushes at home and literally pick up whatever I am in the mood of when doing my makeup. However, I have collected these over yearssssss and it is not at all practical to buy them all in a day, a week or so
Which is why I thought, if I had to only buy what I ONLY and ABSOLUTELY need, which brushes would those be? Here is my list:
1. Eyebrow Brush
If you saw my real eyebrows, then you would think I have none! Yes, that's how light they are :( and I cannot imagine going anywhere, not even to the gym (I don't go to the gym BTW but even if I had to) I would not go without filling in my brows! And my hero brush for this is from REAL TECHNIQUES ! I have tried several other brushes, some I bought individually, some came with other brow products but nothing has done it for me as much as this! I LOVE IT!
It is the last brush on the right, in this image. I don't think you get this brush individually but Sivvi.com is selling this entire set for only AED 142 and I would say that is a KILLER DEAL. Click here to buy the product
2. Foundation Brush
Now in the past I have actually applied foundation on to my skin with my hands, but I feel the final effect you get when you use a brush is close to none. I personally like to use a round and fluffy brush and apply and blend my foundation with circular motions on my skin. My favorite brush is the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush! It is so easy to use! You get this individually as well as as a part of a collection set.
You can try to get it from Glamazle.com at AED 59 by clicking here but if I am not wrong I have seen Real Techniques brushes at Lifestyle stores and Boots Pharmacy too!
3. Contouring and Blush Brush
Now ideally I would prefer to have two different brushes for contouring and blush, because the colors of the powders are different etc, but if you cannot then you can even get away with using one brush. It is ideal to have an angled brush for this purpose. My personal favorite is this absolutely random brush I picked up from Debenhams once! Don't even know why! But yea, ever since I love it. It is really flat and fluffy and not too together - which allows me to apply my product in a more natural way than 2 brown lines in the middle of my face
You can try to get this one in Debenhams store but another alternative I can suggest is the Kat Von D Shade N Light brush - this is AHMAZING too! This has a contouring brush on one end and a hihlighting brush on the other! Makes it worth the price you are paying for it!
Debenhams Brush: Available in Debenhams stores
Kat Von D Brush: Available at AED 150 on Sephora.ae here
4. Eyeshadow Brush
Now I know I am only recommending having one brush here, but this is assuming you are not too much into makeup and these are probably your only set of brushes. because for someone who experiments a lot with colors and makeup, just one eye shadow brush is not at all ideal! But if I were asked to pack just one brush with me, then MAC 217 would be it! This brush is an absolute must have for anybody! The way it blends any product is phenomenal and can help with both application and blending
You can buy the product from MAC stores on Online by clicking here. It sells for AED 135
5. Smudging Brush
Now I am somebody who HAS to smudge her under eye, be it with my black kohl or if I am doing a blue or brown smokey look. Smudged under eye just looks way hotter! So for me, a smudging brush makes it to my must have list. Now there are several smudging brushes in the market but I personally love the Sephora Pro Precision Smudge Brush in 29! I find it very easy to use and feel it smudges the product just the way I want it!
You can buy the product for AED 85 by clicking hereor visit any Sephora stores for the same!
6. Highlighter Brush
Now I know most people love using a Fan brush for highlighting, but when I am out in the night and really want my highlighter to pop, I don't think a fan brush would cut it for me! So if I were to choose one between the two, it would definitely be a tapered brush. My favorite is the one from Sigma Beauty - F35 Tapered Brush! I love this brush and have been using it from years. I feel the tapered ends really help the highlighter go all the way up on the cheek bone, close to the eye. The shape of the brush makes the motion of applying the product easier for me
The product is available for USD 25 on the Sigma Beauty Websitehere
7. The Beauty Blender
Now I know this is not a brush but if you do not have this product in your makeup bag then I feel sorry for you! You won't know how amazing this product is till you use it. I personally use the BB for my concealer but from time to time I even use it for cream contouring! Trust me, you will never regret buying this product because it is just so amazing. Also, just to mention, I have tried other dupes and makeup sponges, but I think it is the texture of the product that makes it above all!
The product is available for AED 80 in Sephora Stores and online here.
I just have to mention, these brushes make it for me! The choice of using brushes, or even not using them all really depends from person to person and just how much into makeup you are!
Hope you enjoyed this post xx
