Before I actually start writing my thoughts of using the much talked about Huda Beauty Rose Gold Palette I just want to say when the palette first came out I thought to myself "I will never buy this". Why? Two reasons precisely - First, the palette has too many rose-y shades (obv cuz its a ROSEGOLD palette) and second, I feel like we all love to hate Huda Kattan. I was like I will not contribute to anymore products she is making but to be honest, it is amazing where she has reached! What started with a blog has now turned into a beauty empire and I think she is only going uphill. I salute to how she has hustled and made it to the top - very inspiring for sure!
So anyway, like I said I was totally against buying the palette only because the shades are not exactly of my choice. As a person I usually only use shades like Black, Brown, Beige, Gold - so palettes like Naked2 or that of Lorac Pro are better suited for me. One of my friends actually had the palette and I got to try a few shades when I was with her and I was really impressed - not only by feeling the textures but also on how it looked on her.
The palette has 18 shades as you can see. The first row has the textured shadows and the next two are the ones with matte shades. To be honest, #Blessed and Moon Dust are semi-matte according to me as they have that shiny/glittery finish too!
The Star of the palette has got to be first row of textured shadows. They are MIND BLOWING! They are beautiful to feel and apply. Each color on its own is enough as a shadow. I usually mix like a brown with gold on top but I recently applied just the Rosegold shade on its own using my fingers and it looked great! And lasted almost 6 hours with very little creasing. I did not even apply eyeshadow primer before that. Oh and literally little to no fall out for these colors!
The matt shadows though are not bad but I have used better for sure. You definitely need eyeshadow primer before applying those to ensure it stays the entire time and is not patchy. The pigments are good though. When I applied these there was no fall out however, you know when you take the color on the brush and it falls around the palette itself? I do not know what to call it lol but yea it was like breaking too easily
I only swatched the textured shadows + Moon dust as these were the only ones that would show properly. I LOVE Dubai, Rosegold, Angelic and blessed! PS MoonDust and #Blessed are not entirely textured but they have like a semi-texture feel
Oh and below is a short video of me using the palette. Before you see this video I need you to read the below
- I am NOT a makeup artist neither is this video to go in that direction. I just love applying makeup on myself and playing it with it
- I made this video on my phone so I am sorry about the poor quality
- Since I am not a MUA, I have no technique what so ever lol as you can see the video. I literally just do what I feel and play with it
- I do not know how to contour lol
In a few pointers here is what I think of the palette:
- The matte shades are great but can be a little patchy and need 2-3 coats to be applied for a smoother look
- The textured shadows are the hero of the palette and make the palette worth buying
- There is almost little to no fall out when using the shades
- The colors are well pigmented
I do recommend buying this palette specially for someone who is looking for everything in one palette. Also, for those who do not know much about eye makeup. Why? The textured shadows look so good just by themselves that you do not need to know how to blend and all of that. Plus they look good even if you apply with your finger tips!
