Popular Dubai based food blogger Lavina Israni aka Ezrani (www.ezrani.com) invited me to a very special tasting at the Chef's table at Vanita's - the fine dining Italian restaurant at the Pallazo Versace Dubai in Jaddaf
100 points to the hotel because they send Maserati's to pick guests up when invited by the hotel. Needless to say, we were picked by a gorgeous white Maserati too! I wish I had better pictures :( but the ride was amazing!
Once we reached the restaurant we were served sparkling wine - who does not like some bubbly! We were a group of around 10-12 and were served a 5 course set menu. They started the meal with the below pallette cleanser - don't ask me what it was as I ate it but still don't know :P
Our first course was a Burrata and if you know me I LOVE Burrata! The Buratta was fresh, creamy and completely wiped off of my plate :P
The second course was a Grilled Octopus - this was the very FIRST time I was eating an Octopus. I have no knowledge of how these are usually served but this time it was well cooked. I am not too sure if I enjoyed it too much or will have it again!
Next we had Coral Lobster Chitarra - it was lobster, without the shell, served with pasta. This may sound stupid but this was also the first time I ate a lobster and I quite liked it. In general I do enjoy sea food and I am sure I would be opening to eating lobsters more now :)
For the main course I opted to go for the Chicken - yeah! I am boring like that. I am pretty sure you are wondering main course? Haven't you already eaten the world now. Most of the table was full before this course but hey its a tasting! Got to eat everything. The chicken was well cooked but I found it a bit bland for my taste
Last but not the least was the sweet ending - we were served the Vanitas Affogato. As the name suggests it was Vanilla ice cream with espresso poured all over it. Except the ice cream was in a chocolate bowl which melted once you poured the espresso. There were brownie bites on the plate which tasted Yummy!
The food at Vanita's was surely high quality and of great taste; however, I wish the menu had better options which would give us a better idea of the restaurant's offerings!
